Room 344

So listen to this crazy story.

The on-call doctor in Wausau said that Dr. Shepherd wanted us to come to Marshfield if Mason needed to be admitted. So instead of letting us drive to Marshfield and go to the E.R. to be admitted, we had to drive to St. Clares to be seen and then they wanted to send Mason to Marshfield via ambulance transport.

When we arrived at St. Clares they weren't really sure why we were there. Either were we. They checked him over, asked the same questions I have been answering all of Mason's life, and called Marshfield to see what the plan was. Luckily, the E.R. doc convinced some Marshfield doc that Mason could be directly admitted in Marshfield without going through the E.R. So we got to drive him over here (after wasting over an hour driving to Wausau). STUPID!

So we are checked into room 344 at St. Joes. Mason is finally sleeping, not super contently, but sleeping regardless. They will likely attach a urine bag tonight to collect a urine sample and will likely try and get some more blood to run a blood count (to compare to yesterday's test with the high WBC). So we're letting him sleep for now until they come up with a plan between all the docs on what they are planning to do.

Gramma and I are staying the night...Daddy is heading home because he is feeling pretty crappy himself. Likely H1N1...but he's okay with that since he was anti-vaccine. (He just wanted to catch it and get it over with).

I'm a little worried that they aren't going to find anything out and that we were overreacting and Mason was "testy" for no reason. I'm sort of feeling like a bad parent...I just feel so hopeless.

P.S. because it is flu season, visitors are highly discouraged and no one under the age of 18 is allowed to visit. Feel free to leave a comment here, or send Chris or I a text, or email. We will try and keep family up-to-date if we hear anything or learn anything.

  1. Keep us updated, I'll be watching throughout the night, sure won't be getting much sleep here. Been thinking about Mason all day. I think we'll go to 8:00 at Gerry's, and let him know what's going on, just in case he's not watching the blog. Both you girls try to get a little shut eye as well, and let us know what we can do. 2. Praying for the best. An Jen, don't even think your overreacting! You and Chris are wonderful, loving, amazingly stong parents. Whatever the outcome, you are doing the very best you can and noone including yourself should judge your actions. Hugs, Michelle
