It's going to be a long night...
Mason has a fever of 102.4. He has been fighting off a fever all day and we have continued to give him Ibuprofen to try and bring it down. At 7:43 pm, Mason had a seizure.
I called Dr. Koehn's nurse line because I was concerned that he had this seizure even though we had increased his seizure med only about 2 months ago. She explained that a fever reduces the effectiveness of his med and a seizure breakthrough is more likely. Even though we gave him his dose of Ibuprofen at 6:00 pm, his temp has not come down.
What's weird is that Mason's seizure has come with NO other symptoms. His mood was fairly pleasant today he just seemed tired. Can teething cause a 102.4 temp for this long?
If Mason has another seizure tonight, we need to give him his Lorazepam medicine, which we were hoping to never have to give him because it basically puts him to sleep. Only .1 mL puts him out for quite awhile. He then needs to get his Lorazepam every 8 hours for the next 48 hours.
So cross your fingers and say a prayer for his temp to come down and for no more seizures tonight!!! Seizures are not fun.
