Wide Eyes

This past weekend was full of amazement for Mace-meister.  I was itching for a weekend of fun since it seems so many weekends lately have been full of "to-dos" for Chris and I (mostly Chris since it seems all I do is swell up in this heat.)
So on Saturday, we attended Mason's first June Dairy Breakfast.  I hadn't gone to a breakfast since I was little so I was excited to see how they had changed since then.  As we drove down the highway, the traffic became more congested and we came up on the farm with big white tents and groves of people.  I was nervous, as I didn't know how Mason would handle the crowds (and the heat - my Lord was it HOT) but he was an absolutely charm with minor moments of fussiness.
We parked the car and joined the waiting line for breakfast. It was an extremely organized operation. For $6 each (Mason was free) we had pancakes, sausage, eggs, cheese curds, milk and cranberry juice. Very yummy.  Mason enjoyed a few bites of pancake with us and we were off to visit the kid's tent.

Mason was in amazement at the site of this baby cow.
The little cow was soon nothing because then we went to the big barn where they had hundreds and hundreds of cows.  Mason's expressions were priceless-I wish I could have captured them better in pictures:

We even got to see fresh born cows which Mason thought was just amazing as they tried to stand up for their first or second time.

Mason loved the cows!

I would definitely visit a June Dairy Breakfast again.  Even the 10 minute temper tantrum from Mason when we left couldn't overshadow the fun we had!

On Father's Day we went to church and to a nice breakfast with Papa and Grandma.  Mason was a pretty good trooper through both.  We got home, took a nice hour nap, and then packed up for Green Bay. There was a "Day out with Thomas" event in Green Bay that only comes around for 4 days each year.  I wasn't sure how Mason would handle it - would he be scared of a big Thomas or thrilled and puke all over? :)

Mason was still asleep the entire 90 minute drive to Green Bay.  When we got there, his face lit up when he saw Thomas pulling the train down the track.  We had tickets for a 3:15 ride, but got there at 2:00 because we wanted to visit the gift shop and other activities beforehand.  The gift shop alone would have made the visit well worth it:

We also checked out some train tracks that were set up. Mason could literally spend hours in front of them.  One was a Thomas play set and the other a larger, more real-looking train set:

The train ride was a success as well. The wait in line was the fussiest Mason was the whole day.  Once we got on the train and it got moving, Mason took in all the scenery and giggled each time Thomas blew his horn. I got alot of joy out of asking Mason "Where's the big Thomas?" and seeing his face light up.

Overall a great Daddy's day that we all thoroughly enjoyed. :)

  1. Sounds like a great weekend! Is that Thomas event the same weekend every year? If so/not let me know I would enjoy taking Kyler next year!
